Musubibi is about self identity.
When I was young my mom would frequently take me to the Sanrio store because she was a fan of Hello Kitty and I would collect this character called Badtz-Maru. I always wondered what the story behind Badtz-Maru was, but the brand never went beyond anything in depth.
I want to take the opposite approach with Musubibi and reapply meaning to the type of designs I grew up with. The design approach is inspired by Sanrio, Takashi Murakami, Databeasts and Sega.
